Takeover Day 10 - Brand New Eyes

Um....fan-art again. Sorry.
No shadows and stuff. Just black and yellow. I'm not in the mood today for something special or challenging..
Hopefully tomorrow.

Have a nice evening,

Takeover Day 9 - Billy Talent III

Another digital painting I made a while ago. It's the cover of the 3rd (or 4th, depends on how you count) Billy Talent record.
Damn, I love this band waaaay too much.

Kinda boring, I know.
I'll try to draw something other than fan-art tomorrow...

Have a nice evening,

Takeover Day 8 - Africa

Sorry, I'm a little late today...
This is the other digital drawing with my favourite colours I mentioned earlier.
Rather simple, but I like it. And I'm proud  that I didn't use a reference for this one (:

Have a nice evening,

Takeover Day 7 - Sweeney Todd linocut

Today I have another linocut for you (:
It's Sweeney Todd, because...well, I love that movie so much (go watch it, if you haven't, yet!) and I thought he would look good as a linocut xD

I don't like it as much as I like the one of Ben Kowalewicz, though...

Have a nice day,

Takeover Day 6 - My Grandma's garden

I visited my grandma two days ago and she has a beautiful, beautiful garden in which she invests a lot of work, so I asked her if it would be okay if I took some photos of it.
She said yes and guess what I have for you today? (:

I feel like it is nessecary to say it again at this point: I don't know anything about photography and I've probably broken a lot of basic photography-"rules", but honestly, I don't really care. I like the photos (:

Have a nice day,

Takeover Day 5 - Punk Outfit

Hey guys! (:
Remember when this blog used to be about fashion?
To bring some of that spirit back I have a punk outfit for you today (:
I know, I'm a complete failure when it comes to fashion, but I just wanted to try it and well, it could have turned out worse, don't you think? (:

Have a nice day,

Takeover Day 4 - Hand

Sorry, I'm kinda late today; hopefully that's not becoming a habbit, because I have a serious procrastination problem and I really want to try to get rid of it ^_^

Okay, I have to say: This is one of the very few drawings of mine that I actually like and that I'm proud of.
I know it's not perfect, but I think it's the closest to naturalism I've ever come and to me naturalistic art is the most impressive one.

I drew this about two years ago in art class and then kinda forgot about it, until I found it again in between my other drawings some weeks ago.
As far as I remember the task back then was to draw a naturalistic hand holding an object that is important to you, so I drew my hand together with drum sticks.
I just noticed that there were some mistakes in it, so I re-did some parts of it lately and improved other stuff like increasing the contrast, blending in the contoures and so on.
Sorry for the raster; I used it to get the proportions right but my stupid self two years ago forgot to erase it before starting to draw and now I can't remove it without ruining the complete drawing., but it adds some interesting effect to the drawing I think.
Damn, I talk waaaaay too much. Sorry for that. Whatever, here's the pic:
Have a nice evening,
Christina

Takeover Day 3 - Sky

Usually I'm not really into photography, but every evening I have a great view on the sunset when I look out of my window and sometimes it is so beautiful that I just have to take a picture.

Here are some of my favourites:

Even though I find it hard to believe, I didn't change the picture with gimp or anything like this. This is what it really looked like. The only thing I did was adding a mirror-frame.

I have to say I'm probably as far away from being a professional photographer as one can be. I don't know anything about it (except what I know from Alex's photography reports) and my camera sucks so please don't judge the photos by the quality. xD

Have a nice day,
Christina

Takeover Day 2 - Bee

At the moment I'm trying to practice digital drawing/painting as much as I can, because I find it fascinating what amazing things people can do with just a graphic tablet and a photo programm and I want to be able to do those things, too.
Unfortunately it's way harder than I thought, even though I love having the option to just remove the last step I made.

This is a random bee I drew and I thought it would be cool to also show you some WIPs of the picture (::

Oh and btw: I just loooove the combination of the colours red, orange and yellow. I always have, I don't even know why, but in my opinion those are the best colours ever to combine ^_^
There will be another digital drawing with those colours soon (:

Have a nice day,
Christina

Heeeey guys! :)
This is day one of the big blog-takeover!
A big thank you to Alex for letting me post my stuff on here and I'm excited to show you guys some of my work over the next days!
I'm rather self-conscious about my drawings and stuff, so please be nice *puppy eyes*
I hope you enjoy it!

Sooo...today I want to show you a linocut I made of Ben Kowalewicz, the singer of Billy Talent :)
I forgot to mirror the picture before cutting, so I had to mirror the end result, but whatever.

I hope you like it!
Have a nice day,
Christina

Fascinated Woman

I'm not sure whether I like this one. Initially I did, but more the idea of it, because all the mistakes I made just jump into my eyes right now-I don't really like it anymore.. Maybe that'll change with time...

Sketchbook (of Paris of course)

Okay see-I'm planning to keep a sketchbook. This is proving to be difficult, as I never actually have the time or the patience to sit down whereever I am on the spot and draw, so now I'm still sketching of photos. I'm planning to change that though-so bare with me and enjoy my first entry :)
And what could be better than a scene from Paris to start off with :D

Demonstrations in Cairo pt 4

Moving on to part four :D I love how this picture is develpoing...I just have no clue, what on earth I'm going to do about the failed composition right now...
I definitely still need something at the top in between the two flags, I need something on the left, even though as you can see there is already the sketch of the woman and I need something behind which the arm can come out from at the bottom (okay that sounds complicated-but jsut look at the arm holding the left flag and you'll know what I mean!)

Demonstrations in Cairo Pt 3

Heyho :D
I know this is moving kind of slow but I decided to take my time with this one. What I'm drawing means a lot to me so I want to get it right!
By the way-when you only have balck and white-it is extremely difficult to draw open mouths...You have the outher lip which is dark, the teeth which are light and then the tongue which is dark...but everytime you draw the tongue and leave white for the teeth, it looks like a duckface because you cannot recogize the teeth...
No I'm SERIOus! it's a problem!!

Coke Can finished piece

Good afternoon everyone :) After all the late night posts I'm pretty early today :D
So here's the fnished coke can for you! I'm not sure whether I like it because well, what I was trying to do when I was drawing it, was to seperate it into different color regions and then shade each region evenly. This  only worked to a certain extent as the different lines of the ballpoint pen gave the regions a rough kind of texture and with all the different shades and textures, the whole can is pretty unsettled.
By the way-contrary to the pictures here-the ballpoint pen is black. I only always change the color for these posts because I think the photos look better in sepia as there is not that stab of blue which always magically appears on my photos (if anyone has any tipps on what to do against that please please please tell me! ;)

Market Scene finished piece

Yes I know-Market scene?! huuh what is she talking about?!
Well hear me out. As you might have guessed this is still the train illustration :D in the process of drawing this pic I decided that I had to change it. To understand this you need to know the different steps; so at first it was a photo, the train was in the middle and there was market on the left and right. Then I decided I would cut the market on the left because I didn't like that the train was in the middle and the left side was boring anyway. So then I started doing the pen marks and stuff and I realised, I didn't like the train either. Compared to the market scene it was boring and it totally messed up the composition... It made the picture way to square and "filled in". So I erased the train as well. Now I kind of had a cut where the market ended and the train started so I improvised some things there so it didn't look like a clean line. And I added some tiles at the bottom so that the picture would get that kind of "high on the right and low on the left" look :D
Sometimes it is very interesting to see how pictures develop in the process of drawing but this actually happens quite often to me because I don't "plan" my pictures (even though I probably should because as you can see I'm quite picky with the composition XD)

Oh an I accidentally klicked the reverse color button in the photo editing programm and I liked the chalky look this gave the drawing so put it in hear to show you as well ;)

Work in Progress Train

I kind of like the way the man turned out.. For some reason his belly has many lines (well not for some reason-just because I drew him to fat first and then made him thinner) but maybe I'll try to make the background around there dark so nobody notices XD

Work in Progress

The beginning stages of a train ;)
And ok-for some reason this photo has really bad lighting...
Ah well-enjoy your night!
