Over the shoulder-finished piece!

What'up?! I worked very hard today! well...kind of. But I have an excuse, remember!
So anyway-here you have it, the finished over the shoulder piece. Tell me what you think!

Maybe you can tell from the bag, but I went and shaded stuff with a soft pencil. Just wanted to try some new things I guess... I've had better ideas ;) I like the blue pen though! :D

Over the shoulder (nearly done!)

Hi!
Here finally, is the second part of the Loewe girl :) I tried something different today, added a little color using a blue ball point pen ;) I kind of like how it turned out-I really need to do it more often!
I think it isn't done yet, I still have to make some minor changes, like make her chin look a little less...big, and add somee more of the bag.
Thanks Christina by the way, for covering for me yesterday ;) I really needed sleep-and she saved me! ;)

Takeover - Eyes

Hey guys! It's me again, Christina :)
Sadly Alex has a cold and is not capable of posting something today but I offered that I could do it, so here you go:

Currently I'm trying to improve my ability of drawing naturalistic portraits and I'm doing it step-by-step, starting with the eyes.
I drew a lot of those recently, but I decided I will just show you my two favourites:

I hope you guys like them!
Get well soon, Alex! :*

Good night,
Christina

Over the shoulder

Isn't this girl from the Loewe ad beautiful how she non-chalantly looks over her shoulder? You can't really see much yet but I like where this is going!

Long haired beauty

Just casually practising drawing beautiful women :D This one is from a Guess add I found this in this magazine...looking at pics like this makes me not want to cut my hair...XD
Just because a lot of people have been asking-I checked my watch today-I need about 30, 40 minutes for a drawing like this!

Corn

Hi there!
I have something for you which is quite rare for me. Still life with colored pencils. I don't particularly like it, but it was good as an exercise, and I realised, I do not have enough patience to draw naturalistically, or see the point.
I love how that lea at the top looks a little like a scorpion tail...:D

Freckles! (Finished piece)

My first ever total watercolor portrait! What do you think?
I think it is safe to save to say that I've done better stuff, I don't particularly like her. For one I the neck looks twisted, but the shoulders aren't (I can tell you why too-the hair on the right would fall differently and I couldn'T change it anymore XD), and there is a lack of contrast...Maybe I should add some more color but I don't really want to go back and change it...

Freckles! (work in Progress)

I love freckles...on everyone but me.
Not sure if I like her or not :D
But it is the first time I actually shaded a face in watercolor, which is a very very scary undertaking. On one hand, if you use too much color, the whole thing can be ruined in just a few seconds. On the other hand watercolor is great for shading because you can make it blend incredibly well :D (unlike ballpoint pen-where you simply have lines and have to make them look like a smooth surface!

Practising Lips in Pen

And here you go! Round 3! With the pen it is the hardest I think. It is harder to get different shades of grey and to make them kind of blend in together...frustrating sometimes! :)
But I love how they all look together!
 Enjoy your evening! ;)

Lips in Colored Pencil

Am late today...again :D
Ah well-here's the next part of my practise series!
The colors are difficult to get by the way...it's either pink, or red, or like pinkish with a more orangy/skin-colory note....so weird!

Practising lips-in pencil

Seeing that both in the pic from yesterday and in the one the one with the guy with the glasses the mouth was the weakest point in the whole picture, I decided I had to practise! Today I just did it in pencil, tomorrow I'll do some in color and on Saturday some will follow in ballpointpen! I hope my training works :D
I like the two last ones best...:D maybe the training allreadykind of worked? ;)

Uncertainty

Okay I  have to say, maybe this sounds a dramatic, but it is true (!) that I learned a lot about myself when drawing this picture.
While drawing her, I kept having the feeling that I identified myself with her a lot. For some reason I think in that moment I felt exactly the way she does. I might even still. This is something new for me, she is different from the others. And when I realised that, I looked at the other drawings I did previously of girls like here or even here. I noticed that in a way those are the kind of girls I looked up to, the ones I try to be like. Confident, different, positive. Maybe this is how I imagine others see me. But what I realised drawing this picture, is that at the moment this is much more the person I really am. Now I agree-it sounds weird and cheesy and horrible but it's true...
I don't know, maybe it is just to me that this picture means so much and when you look at it your just like, ah-she's just the same as the others-but for me...I don't know..she is different. Special.

Uncertainty-Work in Progress

Now I do like where this is going...Just in the beginning statges so it is difficult to say what will happen though.
Is it only me, or are any of you other artists out there just doing stuff and then later tryingn to find a reason whiy it is like that? ;)

Sleeping Beauty-finished piece!

I warned you. This was an experiment. And I told you I wasn't done yet with a part of the picture. So here it is :D
So let's talk this over a little bit. So without the dude, the picture looked nice. Like the elegant good looking niceness (At least that was what I was trying to achieve..) The dude partly destoyed that and I was aware of this effect before I glued him in. But on the other hand, now that the dude is there, I feel like the picture has a message, a meaning (sorry to the guys by the way :D It is just easier to make sleeping beauties girls-the message goes both ways though! :D). There is always the risk, is adding a meaning worth making it look worse? And in this case-I decided yes. Because few people are going to remember a picture of a girl in a ballet dress lying on the ground looking...dramatic. More people will rememember it, if it has a meaning, even though it might look worse....Am I making sense? I hope so ;) Tell me what you think!
xoxo Alex
PS: I think I have to mention this-copyright and stuff-the photo of the guy is from here!

Sleeping Beauty-nearly there!

She's nearly done! ;) well she is actually done, the rest of the pic isn't!

The paper isn't actually pink-it is just my lamp which made it like taht for some reason...

Sleeping Beauty

The skirt and sleeve are finally done! :D
I don't know if you noticed, but I'm using colored pencil to coor this in. I wanted to do something with colored pencils lately because one of the two friends doing the exhibition (if you haven't seen the post-scroll down and make sure you check it out! :D) with me because he does his drawings completly in colored pencil and it is pretty awesome! :D

The TV-debate: Angela Merkel

Hey guys :D So I have to confess-I'm not the post politically informed person ever, but there are some things that I think you just need to watch if you don't want to be totally ignorant of politics, like today's Television debate. Now I have to say...it wasn't the most interesting because, well content-wise there may have been some interesting parts, but the charisma of both Steinbrück and Merkel were like below zero...I think I saw like one smile from Angie and maybe like a grim look from Steinbrück-once...but otherwise... No wonder so many people think Germans are boring ;)
don't ou love that typical, Merkel only, kind of chin shape...makes for very interesting drawings ;)
