Sketches for an upcoming piece I'm pretty excited about :D These sketches are not very spectacular I admit, but they take ages so often I have no choice but to post them on here :) Bear with me, it's making progress!

I'm not entirely happy with the expression yet, but I can't wait to carry on, and see how thi'll turn out! ;)

Love this guy. Originally it was meant to be a totally different style, but I got so caught up in the pencil sketch that I just finished it :)

I'm working on another version of the same dude right now, so maybe you'll see more of him tomorrow! ;)

Fairytale Fox

Sometimes when you feel like you are not in the mood for drawing at all, the best things evolve from your lustless scribbles..I really like this fox-I really have to look into colored pencils again! ;)

Abs!

I have found today that drawing a mans abs (for the sake of anatomical studies of course, now don't get all excited! ;) ) is actually a quite pleasant task...
No really, I found this anatomy book for artists at a second hand bookfare I stumbled upon in Munich the other day and well, this seemed like a natural place to start :D

So yes, you're right-these sketches are fairly primitive and not perfectly elaborate, but I still like them because each one kind of captures the person a little bit-says something unique about them ;)

A teacher, a businessman and a hagard looking chap

Some of you might know, I was in the south of Germany the last few days, so here's a real schmankerl for you today ;) I had lots of time, so I just sat at the foot of this cathedral, sketching lots of people that came by and here are some of my favorite results ;)

Cat Sketches

Are you serious? I spent several hours trying to sketch cats, mostly from imagination-and this is basically the only useable result? :O weird animals indeed....

And if anyone says this looks like a dog, I swear I will throw my pencil at you!

I said yesterday that I wanted to make a more sophisticated illustration-here's the beginning. It took quite a while to the proportions right because of her head which is slightly tilted forward making the whole face appear shorter...
Just one thing I have no clue with (and I'm counting on your help here guys!) the medium-I don't think I want to leave it in pencil-I think it often looks unfinished...With ballpoint pen I've been having a little dispute with myself because I like it a lot as you know but lately I think the sketches have been losing quite a bit of expression when I went in with pen...If you scroll through the last few weeks of posts, many of them appear unfinished to me. I don't know whether my technique has changed or my style so it doesn't fit anymore, but I think I'm searching for something new to try... (it's so sad! :O) any ideas?

So anyway, I wish your all a great rest of the evening ;)

I'm so sorry, I just have some not very spectacular sketches for you today. I have an exam tomorrow and I'm quite pressed for time, so I hope you'll forgive me!
Exams are over for a little while starting tomorrow though, so then you can look forward to some better stuff on here again :)

Paper Bag

New project from drawing class (haha, how can you tell?! :D). This is driving me nuts because at the beginning you're like-naaah, this looks horrible. Then you do some shading on one part and it looks freakin' awesome but by the time your done everything looks the same again-and we're back to boring. I need to figure out next week how to get some depth into this drawing, I guess you'll see what'll happen...

Tricyle

After hearing about this tricycle for so long because everyone was complaining about it after I hadn't been at drawing class for a week, it was finally my turn to swear at this thing. In real life it is actually pretty cool with the colors but I didn't know how I wanted to add them to the picture so I just decided to do it in pencil...

The legs at the back are not correct perspectivewise, but otherwise I think the proportions are quite correct I think...

Chapeau

The final art class with the topic of anatomy today. It was very interesting, I think I did improve at least a little and it was fun too!

For a figure that was completly from the top of my head (with the help of a wooden puppet though XD) I think the gentleman right there isn't that bad!

So during the last meters I got a little perfectionistic :D

I have to say though, my camera did some weird stuff, so the top part has more contrast than the bottom part. I promise, it's not like that in real life! :D

This was a request actually :D I know I don't usually do that much with pencil, especially not those realistic kind of drawings so it it really interesting to me to try all the different things out. It is not done yet, still needs quite a bit of polishing ;)

Portrait Practise

Hi everyone.
Drawing class today was fuun! Portraits! :D

They are a lot more traditional than the stuff I usually do and I must say, it was a cool experience-but that is not me, that's not my style. I like looking at them, but I don't like drawing them too much...

Here hair is a little crippled but ah well, you should have seen the hair that I had before! :O
