cotelac spring summer 2012

Hey there :D
I was looking through my stack of magazines and I stumbled on the "Cotelac Spring/Summer 2012" booklet I got it France-Cotelac is a French brand and their campaign/lookbook from that year is seriously cool. So I illustrated one of the pics (For now-maybe more will come :P)
Lots of easterly (or if you don't celebrate that just "universal") love!

Braided Bracelet DIY

Heyho everyone :) sorry that I'm so late again but you kind of forget the time when playing guitar hero :P
Here's a bracelet I made simply by pulling a ribbon and a few strands of blue embroidery floss through a chain and then braiding the 3 different parts.
you finish the end by pulling the embroidery gloss and the ribbon through a loop of the chain and then making a knot so it can't slip out. To close it just add a jewelery clasp or whatever you call those things ;)

Aquarelle Comics

Don't you also just love comics in aquarelle colors? I love how they give the pictures so much more character and style :D
By the way people I have to ask you this-do you think drawing comics, or redrawing comics as I'm doing right now is actually creative? Because I feel like I'm copying other peoples work and where is the depth in that? Do you guys think that if you actually made up scenes partly with these characters that would be worth a shoot, or do you think it is better not to reuse them? Tell me what you think!

Aquarelle Lady

Hey
I have something else for you today, than the last few posts we have had on here-no comic figures :P
I love those adds I think they are for makup or something, where there are these illustrated women with very clear outslines and then over it there is this kind of translusid coloring...so I tried it myself today :D

Scrooge/Dagobert Duck

Hey everyone :D
So I looked up the name of this character from the Donal Duck comics in Englisch and no...I'm so sorry. but noooooo! Scrooge? I mean seriously? that is way to mainstream for disney! nAaaaah-he is going to be Dagobert (the German name for him) in my head forever...
By the way-I'm not just drawing all these cartoon characters just because I think they're call and I have no other ideas!! :D Something bigger is growing in my head and these are just sketches where I'm trying out the different characters :P
By the way-they always look really simple, you know with few lines and everything but actually-it takes a long time to draw them!

Happy Friday! (well what is left of it anyway :P)

Berlin Mitte in Watercolors

Remember when I said yesterday's pic actually started off as a sketch for something else?
Well here is the 'something else' :P
You can see that I changed the whole layout a little again because I didn't like it on the other one :)
It is kind of rough and scruffy and whatever but I kind of like it that way...... (oh and did you spot the "Alex" in the back? there's a whole tower named after me in Berlin :)-and such a cool one too! :P)

Scene from Berlin Mitte

Hey guys!
Haven't uploaded a pencil drawing on here for a long time (at least none that I can think of right now....:D)
So this was actually a sketch were I was trying out the composition for the piece I'm working on right now (wow that sounds fancy-not actually that fancy-a pretty handy trick though!-just sketch out the whole thing in pencil on a different paper before so you can choose your format the way you want it and make sure the proportions are right!)
But then I like it so much I decided to kind of work on it a little with the pencil to give it a more finished look.
It is a scene from Berlin Mitte which was part of an editorial shoot I think...there were some models on the that boat thing :D

Dressing black n white stick figures

You know I must say I really oppose annorexia and all those thin model freakish things associated with fashion but dressing stickfigures on paper is way more easy than actually filling them with flesh-so forgive those designers who are said to plant ideals of über-thin women being beautiful-it is just them being to lazy to add flesh and actually care about proportions! :D (at least in my case it is :P)

Taj Mahal the second

Hey guys-so I tried yesterdays pic with a different medium today because I felt watercolors would kind of suite the Taj Mahal well too!
Tell me what you think is better! :D
I don'T really like that the colors turned out to be so yellowy orange-the building is actually sandstone kind of white but with watercolors once it's done, it'S done!

Taj Mahal

Well following yesterdays truly awesome experiment which I can recommend to anyone-I tried myself at working with a limited set of colors and kind of architectual drawing.
I ended up with this piece in pastel of the Taj Mahal..It is rather small and but I think that is why it actually have effect..A bigger piece would need way more contrasts but this looks small and sketchy :D
what do you say?

Wall of Inspiration

Remember those weekly inspiration posts I did some time ago every Monday? I don't actually know why I stopped but uhm this post is going to be a little like that-only now it's not a post-it is a whole wall :D
Following the advice of an awesome teacher of mine on how to find what actually interests me, art-wise I mean, yesterday and today I started looking through my pile of magazines on my desk-ripping out everything which spoke to me, inspired me or simply just looked awesome :D I tried not to go by any kind of thematic scheme and try to end up with the stuff I liked best...
Then I ordered it and tried to find categories or patterns so that then I could actually see what different kind of things I picked out...and well-here's what I learned....and it looks like we are going to have to rename the blog :P
So just to explain the sections a little-we have a large black and white one on the left-faces in the top middle, then objects and kind of textures or patters on the right and then bottom middle and right we have buildings and scenes n stuff...
It kind of creeps me out how uncolorful, I mean there is a lot of black and white and sepia but nothing is like neon or anything so that's kind of new for me...

and then I learned that I love like vintage cars and motorcycles and stuff...not because of what they are but because they have such cool shapes...

Weird stuff you find out about yourself when you do something like that....Try it! It is actually kind of fun!
oh and there were basically no fashion shots or editorials or anything...which means that it doesn't fit the name of the blog...which kind of sucks-but I'll think of something I promise!

The endless braid

Hey!
So after an awesome trip to Hellweg-the construction store (does that exist in English? In German we have this awesome word "Baumarkt" but I never knew the exact translation....) I discovered a stretchy kind of saling thread/string/yarn-whatever you want to call it...
The stuff is awesome so I took about 2 meters and then searched for stuff I could do with it :D Knowing my love for bracelets-I soon stumbled upon an awesome DIY which I would hereby like to share with you :) Try it-it is really fun and I bet everyone will come up to you and ask you where the heck the ends are! :P
I loved it and I'm wearing this the next week without putting it off :P
Show me how your's go!
