Cafe Characters

They don't really come across here I don't think, but I love these little studies. I think they really capture my style in a way, I don't know what to do with them though, in terms of a bigger piece...

Playing around with gothic ornaments

Further experiments. It's horrible at the moment, I can only do these studies because I don't have the time to develop a basic concept which I could use as a base. These are always complicated to make, and not very spectacular when you post them on here, so I usually refrain from doing so. Maybe tomorrow I'll have more luck...

Sketching

I Set myself Kind of a challenge when I did this. As you noticed I've been studying the work of Wilhelm M Busch These Last few days and he manages  to make figures and faces into characters. That was my goal, with These next few drawings. I had Photos from the newspaper and tried to illustrate the people, conciously changing things to underline character or stuff that you could count as style. Maybe you'll notice ;-) good night! Ornaments

As a friend of mine puts it-drawing is therapy. Same thing here :) Keeps me grounded, keeps me calm and enables me to concentrate on the important things...
Further studies today, tomorrow probably as well, but I have something a little special planned for Friday ;)
Soo, see y'all tomorrow, I'm going to sleep now! :)

Fancy Letters

Still palying around with the Schiller Book :D So cool! At the moment I'm still simply copying stuff, but soon I want to take it to the next lever and create my own stuff in this style...;)

Waiter

I'm quite enjoying these exercises. Starting off with a copy is a great thing to get into the flow, and then working out a new, original pose is tedious but essential to make progress I think :) It's fun! :)
Oh and original drawing & pose still by Wilhelm M. Busch :)
Good night, y'all! :)

Doctor from Heidi

My grandma gave me a real treasure the other day. It is a really old copy of 'Heidi' (a German-or Austrian? children's story) with incredible illustrations by Wilhelm M. Busch. I'm sure I'll keep studying his work, here is a first sketch of this doctor he did :)
Good night!

Kids-studies

So I'm going to be drawing quite a few kids for my next project I'm afraid ;) It's going to be a little weird, but cool, so you'll see!

And because it's difficult to stay an topic-here's a man too ;)

Hair Study

In hindsight, I really don't know why I chose such an utterly ugly hairstyle to do this study in. I had to force myself to finish this...
So anyway, what you do to finish the hair is simply to fill in the section. First evenly with lots of lines going the way the hair does and then you just add some where the shadows and the dark parts are :)

Hair Study

Lots of people have been asking me of how I go about drawing hair. So in the next few posts I'll explain :D
First thing I do is, I divide it into sections. Dealing with it is much either that way, you can get the proportions right and if put down a wrong line here, that's okay because you can hide it quite well later one.

Chapeau

The final art class with the topic of anatomy today. It was very interesting, I think I did improve at least a little and it was fun too!
For a figure that was completly from the top of my head (with the help of a wooden puppet though XD) I think the gentleman right there isn't that bad!

This is haaaaard!
Just so you have an idea-drawing this from imagination took me about half an hour longer than yesterday's elephant...

Feather Study

When I did that Sleeping Beauty Post, I told you that in art class we're drawing with feathers and tusche at the moment. I had to do like a whole sheet of exercises, and it took aaaaages, so sadly I have nothing cooler for you today. Sorry!
See you tomorrow!

Study of Hand pt 2

My collection of hands is growing bigger ;)
The second one was a lot harder, as you can tell from all the horrible pencil lines everywhere :D
